HOW to VOLUNTEER- – - ALL THROUGH THE YEAR!
Hi – I’m Sondra Clark. I’d like to share some ideas about volunteering with you. So often, when you hear the word “volunteer” you think about serving Soup at a homeless shelter. There are many other ways to volunteer. I’m a spokesperson for Childcare International, a Christian relief agency that helps children in developing countries. After visiting their programs in Africa and Per, I now volunteer to speak at churches and community groups, asking people to sponsor a child for $ 30.00 a month. Speaking to large groups might not be what you want to do. Just read through this and hopefully you’ll find some ideas about volunteering that interests you.

THE ABC OF BEING A GREAT VOLUNTEER
Arrive on time. As a volunteer its important you arrive on time. If you are late, other people are inconvenienced. Many groups rely on volunteers to carry out programs, so be sure to be where you are supposed to be.
Be prepared. If you are working on picking up trash, don’t come in a skirt and cute flip flops. Know the project you are working on and wear something that is appropriate to that task. Understand that not all volunteer work is fun and exciting. Be prepared to help sweep floors or decorate bulletin boards.
Care about what you’re doing. Volunteer for something you really care about, Otherwise you won’t enjoy doing it. If you are an outdoorsy, active person, you probably aren’t suited to file overdue notices in the library.
